Must be Christmas soon.
Shops advertising
Discount prices for gifts.
Lots of tinsel and lights
On trees real and artificial.

We might remember -
There was no room at the inn.
It was a poor wait
For the birth of a precious baby
As it is in countless places
All over our world.

Christmas. A time:
For family joy
And disconnected loneliness.
For food and gifts,
Hunger and war-time suffering.
May our friendships
Cradle warmth and peace.
